Yoga Exercises

Yoga is great exercise that you can do alone at home. Doing yoga exercises and stretches will improve your cardiovascular system, strengthen and tone your muscles and relax your body and mind.

There are several different types of yoga. Some focus on physical conditioning, some others center more on meditation compared to stretches and physical movements. But all of them involve breathing exercises and mental discipline.


If you are a beginner, try Hatha yoga because it is easy to learn and to do. It introduces you to the very basic poses and is performed in a slow and relaxing manner. Vinyasa Yoga is another option but it is performed at a faster pace.

The other types of yoga that you might want to try after you've learned the basics are Bikram or "hot" yoga, Kundalini, Iyengar, and power yoga.

If you are interested to learn, you can enroll in a beginner yoga class. Each class is conducted in a group and will take about an hour to ninety minutes. If you plan to do it at home purchase a yoga DVD or subscribe to daily online yoga classes where you can download yoga positions, guides and podcasts at a minimal fee.

Once you make yoga a regular exercise routine, you will begin to feel calm, more flexible, able to focus inwards and improves your total health.
