Single Parent Dating

Single parent dating can get absolutely difficult for single moms when children are involved. Juggling dating with work, household duties and friends is already taxing. When children are added to the mix, single mothers will likely feel pressured and stressed.

Children need guidance, nurturing and attention. As a single mom, you have to attend their school activities, support them and get totally involved in their education and upbringing. Failing to do all these during their childhood will adversely affect them right through adulthood.

Quite a number of these neglected children become troubled teenagers. They run away from home and get influenced with alcohol and drugs. This is one of the reasons why adults grow up with low self esteem, lack of confidence and are aimless. They might end up as irresponsible adults.

Single parent dating looks almost unlikely to happen for many single mothers when young children are involved. This is because new relationships take time, efforts and commitment to make them work and single moms know that their children are their priorities. Dating with children is achievable if single moms can manage their time and handle several things, are optimistic, have friends and family who are supportive to help take care of their kids during their time out.

So your goals when it comes to single parent dating is to find someone who understands your predicament, priorities, role as a single parent, and accept and like children. Get to know your date before you fall for him. Even if he tells you that he can accept you and your children take note of his reaction when you have to choose between your commitment toward them and meeting his needs.

Take heed of the early warning signs if what he says about his acceptance contradicts with his reaction. Avoid wasting your time on someone who doesn't understand your role as a single mother and your commitment and priority toward your kids. If you ignore the early warnings and continue with the relationship, you might have to face bigger problems ahead.

If he understands and willingly gives in so that you can have time with your children and encourages you to become a good parent, this shows that he is sincere in his intention to befriend, get to know you and develop a relationship.

Dating is fun regardless of your age or your stage in life. Single parent dating when children are involved is just more challenging. Know your priorities but stay flexible. Other than being a single mother, allow yourself to meet your womanly needs without feeling guilty. Leave your past behind and move on with life.
