House Cleaning Tips
Free house cleaning tips and ideas on how to clean your house. This house cleaning checklist can help your clear the mess and maintain a clean house.
Though not all, single women's homes are sometimes messy and disorganized with so many stuff, clothes, shoes and unnecessary junk all over the place. One or the major reasons is because there isn't much space either because the place is small or there are insufficient storage containers.
Sometimes it's because of the freedom that comes with being single. They can do as they please so they procrastinate when it comes to house cleaning. There are some cases where laziness is the problem.
Single working mothers with toddlers and teens face a bigger challenge when it comes to clutter and mess. They have very limited time to clean the house and when they do tidy them up, things get messy and out of place right after that.
If you can't stand the mess any longer, here is a step by step process on how to clean your house. It can take you from a few days to a week, unless you can get someone to help out, to declutter your home and get everything at a manageable level. But the sooner you get started the faster it takes to get your home cleaned, organized and tidy again.
House Cleaning Checklist
House cleaning tips No. 1 - Get empty boxes.
Before you start, get a few empty boxes. If you don't have them, you can use the garbage bags. If you have kids, add another for toys. You will place all those items that you want to throw or give away in them as you move from one room to another.
House cleaning tips No. 2 - Get storage containers ready.
You can buy many types of functional and decorative storage containers to put all those stuff that you still want to keep and use like CDs, DVDs, books, magazines and so on. Get smaller ones for dry food stuff. Label these containers so that you can easily find what you are looking for when you need them. To fully utilize space, put the light containers on top of cabinets, but make it convenient for you to reach them. You can place cereal boxes and such on top of the refrigerator.
Gather your laundry.
Pick up all your unwashed clothes and put them in the washing machine. While you do the rest of your cleaning, your laundry will be done.
Pick all the dirty dishes and mugs.
Before you begin cleaning the kitchen, pick dirty mugs and empty bottles in your other rooms.
Start with your living room. Fluff the pillows on the couches and put everything where it should be. Throw the old newspapers and magazines that you won't read them again. Then go the kitchen. Wash all the dishes, sink and stove top. Clean out the fridge.
When you are done with the living room and kitchen, tidy your bedroom. Make your bed, take out everything from your drawers, throw those empty bottles of lotions, creams, sort and rearrange your accessories and make up.
Look in your wardrobe. Decide what you still want to use or to keep. Shoes and winter clothes can go into flat storage bins that slide easily under the bed or the dresser. Think about giving away your clothes that are still good but you wouldn't want to wear them again.
Use over the door organizer with pocket in your bathroom to place your bathroom stuff. The bathroom should be easy and fast to clean. It's recommended that you clean your bathroom each time after you use it so that it will always remain neat.
Dust, vacuum and mop.
This is the last house cleaning tips. Start dusting and wiping from top to bottom of cabinets and drawers. After vacuuming or sweeping, mop from the bedroom to the living room and the kitchen.
Once you've finished this major house cleaning, it's better to plan a weekly cleaning schedule instead of piling things up. If you can afford it, outsource the task to a house cleaning service company. You can have this cleaning service once or twice a week for a reasonable price to maintain a clean house.
