Learn How to Swim

Why not make swimming a favorite recreational pastime? If you can't, it's time to learn how to swim. It's one of the ways to socialize, hang around or meet new people and make your single life more interesting. On top of that is a good physical exercise and of course healthy.

There are many health benefits of swimming. It is a great way to relieve stress and tension. Being in water is soothing and can help you relax your muscles and your mind. One of the best benefits is it improves the condition of your cardiovascular system. It enhances your heart and lung efficiency. And swimming also improves your flexibility, posture and strengthens your muscles.


If you are thinking of losing weight, then swimming can help you do that. A study showed that a 150 pound person can lose between 270 calories to 740 calories, depending on the strokes, laps and speed. If you want to burn the most calories learn to do the butterfly stroke.


If you really want to swim well, hire a coach or get help from an experienced swimmer to guide you. Or if you prefer to learn on your own, purchase a DVD and follow the instructions and guides.


But before you start your exercise program, check your health condition with your physician especially if you have been physically active for a while.
