Lawn Care Tips

Here are some lawn care tips and advice on how to care for your lawn.

You don't need a man in your house to have a beautiful lawn. Single women, moms included, can have a stunning lawn that will make all the men in the neighborhood jealous. Lawn care isn't just a man's job nor do you have to hire a professional to have a beautiful lawn. Women have made their lawns look amazing following some good lawn care advice and putting in the efforts.

Lawn Care Tips on Fertilizing

A beautiful lawn is a healthy lawn. That is one of the top things you must know when you are starting to work on getting your lawn in shape. Fertilizing your lawn will encourage the growth of thick, lush grass. It will help it to get that green color that really makes your lawn stand out.

To choose fertilizer you will need to test your soil and make your fertilizer choice based on the test results. You can apply fertilizer about three times a year. The first time will be right around spring when the colder weather is moving out and the grass will start growing again. Then fertilize again in two months and two months after that.

Lawn Care Tips on Watering

Proper watering is very important. In some climates mother nature will handle the watering needs. But if you hit a streak of dry, hot weather then you will need to step in. you can equip your lawn with a sprinkler system to make watering easy. If that is not an option then you can use a garden hose to spray your lawn.

Watering should be done in the early morning or in the late afternoon. Never water in the heat of the day or it could scorch your lawn. If you water too late the water could build up in the soil and lead to lawn disease. It is important to water evenly.

Do not let puddles accumulate on your lawn. One of the best way to know when to water is to test the lawn with your foot. Your lawn doesn't need watered if the grass springs back up when you step on it. If you can see your foot print then you lawn is in need of water.

Lawn Care Tips on Mowing

Mowing can be a relaxing activity and a great way to soak up a little sun. Mowing your lawn can double as an exercise. Look at mowing as a fun activity and you should find it is enjoyable.

Your lawn will need mowed often during the growing season. You will want to mow with a mower that has sharp blades. Avoid cutting too low as this will leave the root of your grass vulnerable. You also do not want it too high since tall grass will block the roots from getting the sun and water they need.

A happy medium length should be your goal. You should rake or remove grass clippings after mowing so they do not sit on the lawn and cause brown patches.

Many women think that lawn care is a man's duty. Single women often hire someone to take care of their lawn. The truth is anyone can grow a lovely lawn. It takes some work, but you will find that lawn care is actually fun and will be a great way for you to relax on those long summer days.
