1. Feeling lonely or alone.

   This feeling will surface when you are struggling with a big problem, suffering from an illness, or going through the major holidays. You will feel out of sort too when you have no one to share your secrets or celebrate a major or exciting event or achievement. You will tend to feel distressed if you don't have an escort or a date to attend social events like a wedding or dinner parties.

   
   
   
2. Lack of intimacy.

   One of the disadvantages of not getting married is the lack of physical closeness. And as single women get older, they will have fewer or no intimate partners.

   
   
   
3. Doing things solo.

   You will have to cook, clean, shop, pay the bills and do almost everything by yourself. If you are a single parent, you have an additional responsibility of taking care of the children without help from your spouse.

   
   
   
4. Expenses of living alone.

   It costs more to live alone. You pay the rental and bills without any financial assistance. If you don't learn to budget your money and expenses, you will find it challenging and feel the financial constraints. Sharing your home with another person to ease your living expenses is an option but finding the right person is tough.

   
   
   
5. Reduced benefits.

   Singles don't get the extra benefits in insurance, housing and other areas. And another one of the disadvantages of remaining single is that you have to pay a higher income tax. Other reduced benefits are like losing the benefits of the 2 for 1 offer, and at times having to pay for the same price a couple pays for a hotel room or a cruise.

   
   
   
6. Extra safety and security precautions.

   You don't have to start imagining being maimed or robbed in your homes. But you do have to take extra safety and security precautions when you choose to live or travel solo.

There aren't many disadvantages of being single. It's only difficult at first for those women who find themselves alone after many years of being in a marriage or relationship.
